I do NOT understand Zazzle’s store design choices, but… https://www.zazzle.com/store/baitcon
There is one piece of art (<3 <3 <3 to Sarah Morrison) in various ink colors. I think with most of them you should be able to choose any underlying print item – esp. different shapes and weights of shirts – and color you want.
If there’s some combo you can’t make for yourself, let me know and I’ll build a new “product”.
I believe there’s at least one, and so probably more than one, person who actually follows our RSS feed, so: Baitcon XxX is happening at the end of June!
Stop by the website for details!
Registration for Baitcon XXVI is officially open!
Baitcon 26 will be held on August 28th-31st, 2015
at the Mountain Campground of the Abode of the Message.
Why Change the Date?
The severe snow and ice this winter has impacted everything in the Northeast – roads, public transportation, roofs, buildings of all sorts (both inside and out), school schedules, etc. Last week, the Abode staff shared some concerns about the potential impact to our site due to the weight of the snow on various buildings and structures and also the possible ground conditions in June. As we are always the first event of the Mountain Campground season, many assessments and repairs are often in-progress during our event. This year, it seems more than likely that many spaces may be unusable even in late June.
Why August?
This was the only available Abode’s only other available weekend this summer. Our new date, much like our traditional date, is sandwiched between many wonderful things. This year, Baitcon 26 will be right after Worldcon and right before Burning Man and Labor Day weekend. This unique date offers us all a chance to experience the Mountain Campground at a different time in the summer, celebrate before kids go back to school.
Registration will open in late May this year. The same go/no-go condition we always have for Baitcon will still apply despite the date change: we need at least 120 paid adult registrations to meet our minimum attendance guarantee and go forward with the event.
We know that many of you many have already planned around our traditional late-June date. We’re sorry about that and we hope you can still join us this year. If you have questions, please email us via this address: exec AT baitcon DOT org
1st and most importantly: That was amazing. Thank you to everyone who came. I had a spectacular time, and I’ve heard nothing but good things from everyone else so far. I hope to have a more verbose set of thanks soon, but for now know that I’m gratified and grateful and overjoyed by the fabulousness that was Baitcon XXV.
2nd: our photos page is woefully out of date, full of stale links, and missing tons of recent pictures.
If you can send me proper links to your various Baitcon pictures, I’d really appreciate it. Also, as things go offline over time, I’d REALLY like archival copies of pictures. I can pick things up from personal web servers, come by your house with USB or other media, or give you an FTP/SFTP server/dropbox to stick them on. Bulk downloading from online gallery services is annoying, but if that’s the only way, let me know and we can try to work that out, too.
3rd: I love the names y’all give to the myriad flavors you produce. That said, I’d really like to be able to list on the Flavor List (which is up to date with this year’s flavors) what things actually are. Recipes would be a bonus.
Please comment here, or mail me, or drop paper in my mailbox at home, or something with as much as you remember.
I believe, for example, that Schadenfreude was (some sort of) Coffee, and Salt. Was there more? Was there a reason for the flavor? Let me know.
Thank you all for everything!
JB (and of course the rest of BCC, though they don’t actually know I’m posting this. 🙂
BaitconXXV approaches and this will very likely be our last post before the con …
Important things to note:
Registration is closed. There is no admittance for unregistered guests/last-minute arrivals.
All cabins have been assigned – there are no open/available cabins or huts at this time.
And … we are excited to see you all on the mountain in a few days!!!
Additionally, if you have any medical condition or allergies that we should be aware of, we hope you made that clear on your registration form. If not, please make it known, if necessary to any of our medical staff this year. Please tell us, even if we’ve known about it for years. The medical staff may change each year and out of respect for your privacy, we do not keep this information from year to year. And if you are sick with or have recently been exposed to a communicable disease such as Measles, Chicken Pox, Ebola (paying attention?), please do NOT attend and thus risk the health of others.
Figure out what you need to pack by visiting our What to Bring page.
Looking for a ride? Able to provide one? PLEASE CARPOOL and consider using the Ride Board
You may also need Directions or a look at the Map
You can arrive any time after 2p. on Friday. Do not arrive early, do not decide that you’re only one-car/one group of people and it is no big deal. It is and we’ll be really grumpy about this if it happens. We are handling our deliveries differently and have trucks going up & down the mountain before the event starts. So if you arrive in the area before 2p., explore greater Pittsfield or tiny New Lebanon for a bit until 2p when you can head up the mountain road. Further more, please note the information about unloading your gear and Parking
The chefs will be providing plenty of good food for everyone – check out the Menu
Wondering what else there is to do for fun at Baitcon? Check out the Merriment page a or bring an idea of your own 🙂 We are excited to announce that in addition to ice cream making&eating, the late-night contra dance, gaming & exploring nature, Platypus Rex will return to the Baitcon stage on Saturday night after nearly a decade! We are so excited about that! We’re kicking off the concert with a parade!
And, of course, you should view the Ice Cream pages, including Pre-Con Ice Cream Advice, Ice Cream and Kids Ice Cream … and perhaps dream up your own sorbet/ice-cream/ice-milk flavor.
We still need somevolunteers to help with meal service/beverage refills, clean up & parking. If you’re willing to help with any of those for a couple of hours, please see Tamar (kitchen), Hobbit (parking) or JB (dishes).
We’re all rolling towards the mountain today & tomorrow. If you have questions, email us if you have any questions – via info dash {this year}@ baitcon dot org before noon on Thursday!
See you soon!
Kimberly & BCC
